Hi I’m Katrina Atkinson,
Welcome to the Frida Kahlo Inspired Art Collection, my own homage to Frida, her life and her work.
I grew up in rural Somerset England, and have worked as an artist as long as I can remember. As a 12 yr old I was obsessed with textiles and fabrics, and I would spend much of my time making cushions and bead-spreads etc..
By 18 I was at college in Taunton Somerset, learning about textiles and fashion design. It only took me a couple of years to realise that the fashion industry was not as exciting as i had hoped, and after a few months in London I decided that the aggression of the fashion world was not for me.

I decided to expand my repertois, so I experimented making collages using magazines, paints and found objects...
After a few years running my own business, I decided to return to collage where I achieved an HND (Higher National Diploma) in ceramics at UWE (University West of England). Soon after I studies once again, this time at Plymouth University attaining a BAHons in Fine Art.
I then began an MA in Art Therapy at Hertford University, bus had to drop out due to my pregnancy with my amazing daughter Winnie :)
After nearly 8 years away from HE I have finally returned to continue my MA in Art Therapy only this time at Newport University, so I’ll keep you updated as to where things go from here :)
